I don’t mean to wallow, I’ve got a roof over my head
Daily pills to swallow, and this is another one of them
I’ll never know her because she doesn’t exist

She got to taste the water; she let it soak into her skin.
The sunbeams soaked her lover; she got to bask in it with them
But they’ll never know her. It ended before it could begin.

Her “right now” was supposed to be
Here and there and in between
Festivals and headlights and me

Eyes bright and looking forward
But chasing dreams that were not for her
Tries her best to hide all her debris

Won’t help to hold on to her ghost
So I let her go

Striking strings and boxes, the evidence is in her hands
She reviews it often on the mountain with the band
They get to know her. Wasn’t that always the plan?

Here and there and in between
